September 21, 2009: LIKE YOU LIKE IT wins top prize at I.T. Awards The Innovative Theatre Awards honors The Gallery Players production of LIKE YOU LIKE IT with OUTSTANDING PRODUCITON OF MUSICAL! Heather Curran from Gallery and Sammy accept the award. Fast forward to about 2:06 to see the big event: September 30 - October 2009: ANDY WARHOL WAS RIGHT to play NYMF Casting has been announced for the Sammy Buck-Dan Acquisto dance musical Andy Warhol Was Right, which will play the Manhattan Movement & Arts Center as part of the New York Musical Theatre Festival. Giovanna Sardelli will direct the musical with choreography by Daryl Gray, Darren Lee and Shea Sullivan. Performance dates are Sept. 30-Oct. 4. The cast includes Lauren Cluett (The Producers), Jeremy Davis (9 to 5, South Pacific, and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), Trevor Downey, Tina Fuentes, Merrill Grant, Dexter Jones (Black and Blue), Tricia Kelly, Erin Moore, Alex Sanchez (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Wonderful Town) and Tommy Scrivens. Andy Warhol Was Right features music by Acquisto and a book by Buck, both of whom collaborated on Like You Like It. The musical, according to press notes, is described as such: "When Warhol was shot in his Factory in 1968, he had a dream about the future where everyone is famous for fifteen minutes. Andy Warhol Was Right is a fantasia about his future and our present: a world rife with YouTube videos, political scandals, and ordinary men elevated to media heroes. As three different stories come together at a party that travels from The Factory scene of the 60’s to today’s world of reality TV and YouTube, Warhol takes the audience on a multi-media ride, welcoming them into his world of pop art, dance, music, film, and fleeting celebrity." Designing the production are Timothy Mackabee (set design), Emily De'Angelis (costume design), Sisan Nicholson (lighting design) and Chris Kateff (projection design). Melinda Atwood, Sammy Buck, Dan Acquisto, Daryl Gray, Giovanna Sardelli and Shea Sullivan conceived the dance musical. Melinda Atwood and NYMF produce. For tickets phone (212) 352-3101 or visit NYMF. Here's how to get tickets. March 14, 2009 - April 26, 2009 Dan and Sammy's new musical, The Frog & The Witch, runs at Vital Theatre. October 18 - November 9, 2008 Like You Like It runs at The Gallery Players. September 19, 2008 Dan's first 60-minute dance piece premieres at NYMF. Wild About Harry is a all-danced retelling of Leona Helmsley's life. And although much of it takes place in the 1980s, the score sounds nothing like Like You Like It. July 31, 2008 Dan wrote words and music to his 9th children's musical performed at Merkin Hall in NYC. And when we say children, we mean children doing the performing. |
