SAMMY BUCK (bookwriter & lyricist) and DANIEL S. ACQUISTO (composer) are the authors of the 2009 Innovative Theatre Award winner for Outstanding Production of a Musical, LIKE YOU LIKE IT (at The Gallery Players). They are also the 2007 winners of a Talking Broadway Summer Theatre Festival citation for Outstanding New Musical for their show THE 7-YEAR B*TCH and the 2004 winners of The National Music Theater Network and The Theater for the American Musicals’ inaugural New Voices Prize for LIKE YOU LIKE IT.

Their new show, ...AND THEN I WROTE A SONG ABOUT IT (book writer, Eric H. Weinberger), runs November 24 - December 19, 2010 at Luna Stage.

In 2009, Vital Theatre commissioned and produced two of their family musicals, THE FROG & THE WITCH and MATTHEW TAKES MANNAHATTA (bookwriter, Aurin Squire).

Dan and Sammy have a long-standing relationship with the NY Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF). LIKE YOU LIKE IT was an audience favorite in the 2004 festival, and Sammy and Dan, both separately and together, have penned three of the "Born-at-NYMF" dance musicals: Sammy wrote the book for 2006's COMMON GROUNDS (Honorable Mention for Most Promising New Musical), Dan wrote the music for 2008's WILD ABOUT HARRY, and together they wrote 2009's ANDY WARHOL WAS RIGHT.

Currently, they are contributing writers to New York Theatre Barn's SPEARGROVE PRESENTS, for which Sammy is also writing the book. Other upcoming projects include THE UGLY SWAN: THE UNAUTHORIZED BUT TOTALLY TRUE SEQUEL TO THE UGLY DUCKLING, a Theatre C commission.

Dan and Sammy developed their first show, LIKE YOU LIKE IT, at the BMI-Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop, where they were introduced by Avenue Q creators Bobby Lopez and Jeff Marx. LIKE YOU LIKE IT has been produced extensively, most recently at The Gallery Players in Brooklyn, following its sold-out engagement at Theatre Under The Stars in Houston, TX, in collaboration with Sam Houston State University. A winner of The Global Search for New Musicals, the show was also an official selection of the 2006 Cardiff International Festival of Musical Theatre. LIKE YOU LIKE IT also was a part of the ASCAP Musical Theatre Workshop and the Dramatists Guild’s Jonathan Larson Musical Theatre Fellowship Program, working under the invaluable tutelage of Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, and mentors David Shire and Richard Maltby, Jr.

BUCQUISTO songs have been performed at the N.E.O. Benefit at the York Theatre, Broadway Bound at Merkin Hall, NAMT/ASCAP’s “In The Wings’ at the NAMT Festival, and Any Minute Now’s “A Beat Ahead’ series. Their song “Be With
Me” is featured on the N.E.O. at the York Theatre CD, performed by Matt Cavenaugh, and was performed by Anthony Rapp in the New Globe's Shakespeare on Broadway.
